HENSON MOUNTAIN. Henson Mountain is within the boundaries of Fort Hood eight miles south of Gatesville in south central Coryell County (at 31°20' N, 97°43' W). The mountain, which rises out of flat to rolling terrain to an elevation of 950 feet, was named for William Thomas Henson, a pioneer settler in the county.
