PINTO MOUNTAIN. Pinto Mountain, also known as Pilot Mountain, is nine miles north of Brackettville and 1½ miles west of Farm Road 674 in north central Kinney County (at 29°26' N, 100°26' W). Its summit, at an elevation of 1,566 feet above sea level, rises some 330 feet above nearby East Pinto Creek. Its name is Spanish for "spotted" or "painted."
