SCENIC MOUNTAIN. Scenic Mountain is on the southwest side of Big Spring on Farm Road 700 near the city airport in Howard County (at 32°14' N, 101°29' W). The summit of the mountain rises to an elevation of 2,798 feet. Scenic Mountain is composed of limestone and marl substrate and covered with shallow clay loams. Juniper, live oak, mesquite, and grasses grow on the mountain. Scenic Mountain is in Big Spring State Park, a 370-acre recreational facility.
