SHIN OAK MOUNTAIN
SHIN OAK MOUNTAIN. Shin Oak Mountain is ten miles west of Cherokee in southwestern San Saba County (at 30°59' N, 98°52' W). Its summit is at an elevation of 1,930 feet above sea level, approximately 205 feet above the North Fork of Cherokee Creek to the east. The surrounding generally flat terrain with localized dissection is surfaced by clayey loam that supports mesquite, Ashe juniper, live oak, and grasses.
