SPIDER MOUNTAIN. Spider Mountain is on Farm Road 2341 nine miles northwest of Burnet in western Burnet County (at 30°50' N, 98°20' W). It overlooks Lake Buchanan and, at an elevation of 1,420 feet above sea level, stands about 250 feet higher than the surrounding area. The origin of its name is unclear.
