TULE MOUNTAIN. Tule Mountain is two miles southeast of the Maverick Ranger Station in the Big Bend National Park in southwestern Brewster County (at 29°16' N, 103°29' W). At an elevation of 3,838 feet above sea level, it rises 1,100 feet above the ranger station. The summit resembles the prow of a ship and is capped by a layer of igneous rhyolite. Its shallow, stony soils support live oak, piñon pine, juniper, and grasses.
