CARANCAHUA PASS. Carancahua Pass is a narrow channel joining Carancahua Bay and Matagorda Bay in eastern Calhoun County (at 28°38' N, 96°22' W). The waterway is named after the Karankawa Indians. The maximum width of the channel is about a half mile.
