GOVERNMENT CANYON. Government Canyon begins just east of Farm Road 2083 southwest of Ozona in south central Crockett County (at 30°35' N, 101°16' W) and runs southwest for 17½ miles to Howard Draw (at 30°28' N, 101°28' W). The canyon is a flood-prone valley surfaced by clay and sandy loam soils with a sand, gravel, and mud substrate. Local vegetation consists of oak, juniper, grasses, and some mesquite.
