Now on view, the shipwreck La Belle is the central artifact that will introduce new scholarship on early Texas history and anchor the Museum's permanent galleries. Discover the early history of Texas through the 17th-century ship, select original artifacts, and a 4D film that tell this important narrative. The opening of the La Belle exhibition signals completion of one phase of a major renovation of the Museum's first floor of permanent galleries. The fully renovated first floor will feature hundreds of unique artifacts spanning 13,000 years and a variety of engaging digital media components that will provide visitors with an in-depth understanding of the story of Texas. *Special Exhibitions - These exhibitions offer a focused examination of history, culture, and science. You can use lesson plans and activities in conjunction with a Museum visit to extend classroom learning. After the exhibitions have closed, use the content materials as supplementary activities to classroom curriculum. Special Exhibitions rotate frequently, so be sure to check the dates when planning your visit. *Films - Both the Texas Spirit Theater, a 4D experience, and the IMAX® Theatre offer a memorable and fun way to understand history, science, and culture.
