Hurricane Tracker

Hurricane season begins June 1! The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center has predicted a near normal hurricane season for 2012 with possibly 12 to 17 named storms (tropical storms or hurricanes), 5 to 8 hurricanes and 2 to 3 major hurricanes. So far there have been 6 named storms and one tropical depression. Major hurricanes are classified as categories 3, 4 or 5 with winds reaching 111mph or higher. With the Harris County Flood Control District’s hurricane tracker, you will be able to automatically track the progress of this year’s tropical storms and hurricanes on this website from any computer, as well as view live satellite feeds. You will be equipped with vital information that will help you get and stay prepared.
